I have been on a journey over the past 15 years to learn how to live in harmony with my mind, body and spirit.
I formalized this learning by earning a certification as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (INHC) as as well as Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). I am excited to help you discover your version of deep self-care and resiliency.
Beginning in high school, I grappled with depression and suicidal tendencies. Graduating college in 1998 from Florida State University with a degree in theatre, I ended up with a retail job that had opportunities to climb the corporate ladder.
I decided that was not my future, quit that job, and started working at a health food store. I became plant-based, and taught myself to cook. I started a journey of seeking rewarding work and found it in environmental advocacy. My love of cooking never left me and in between environmental advocacy jobs, I helped create the original menu for one of Orlando, Florida’s first vegetarian restaurants.
I am prone to “impostor syndrome”, a mental perception that made it difficult to claim my own successes. Luckily, many people had faith in me and I continued to do well in my environmental advocacy career. While I was able to see the “impostor syndrome” as mental mis-perception, bouts of anxiety started to take over. In 2010, my father passed away and that was the beginning of journey to improve my mental health. I sought therapy, and also began to explore meditation and mindfulness. I began to listen to my inner voice.
What I heard was, “Slow down, take care of yourself, you are SO TIRED”.
With that realization and the wonderful support of my partner, I made the difficult decision to leave my environmental advocacy career in 2013.
I nourished myself with rest, cooking and eating healthy food, meditation, yoga, dharma talks, and other kinds of contemplative and self-care practices.
I became inspired to go through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition’s health coaching program, not thinking I would want to coach. But I FELL IN LOVE with coaching and the idea that people can uncover what they need for their optimal physical, mental and spiritual health. I did this and continue to do this for myself and I want to share this experience with others.
As a self-care coach, I hold space for self-understanding to occur and deeply listen in order to reflects back what I hear with love and compassion. I am deeply curious about you, and encourage accountability in all aspects of your health, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
